TV Talent and Production

TRAINESS will learn the duties and responsibilities of professionals within the industry. They will master the leagal aspects of broadcast journalism, ethical issues and social responsibility.

Form the first day of class, students will have the opportunity to anchor from a real news set, report for the field, cover hard news, sports, breaking news, entertainment and weather. The program will allow students to try out different roles within the production to discover their talents and interests.

TV Technical Engineering

TV Technical and Engineering Trainess will learn the elements of television production through a hands-on approach that allows them to use state-of-the-art equipment to learn about broadcasting signals, camera systems, lighting for studio and field, editing, recording systems, audio and communications. CENTRO's studio is equipped with the same (or better) technology being used in television stations across the country.

Radio Talent and Production Program

Students in the Radio Talent and Production Program will learn to operate professional radio equipment, use "Pro-Tools" to pre- and post-produce material for radio programming.

Students will operate and produce CENTRO's radio webcast, including news, sports, music, public interest, and entertainment programming.

Broadcast Writing

Students will learn how to write a professional news script taking into consideration the 5 W's and H. Practicing the basic elements of journalism writing, students will gain a complete understanding of how to write engaging scripts, headlines and teases that attract and keep the audience. Learn the Do's and Don'ts of writing in broadcast style in order to become electron story tellers that promise and deliver to the audience.

Program length is 2 weeks for a total of 50 hours.

Seminar Cost: $1,000.00

Television News Production

This seminar is for people currently working as assignment desk editors, production coordinators, associate producers who want to take the next step to become a News Producer or for students new to the industry interested in television news production. Students will learn the I-News System.

Field Reporting

Students will learn how to tell a news story using a variety of techniques that weave different elements together in order to produce a responsible and compelling story. Students will cover real news, go out with a photographer and edit their material (with the help of an expert) and will be able to use their own work on a future demo reel.

News and Sports Anchoring


Students will learn how to write a professional news script taking into consideration the 5 W's and H. Pro-Tools Seminar

This intense 16 hour long seminar is for those students interested in understanding the industry standard audio recording, mixing and editing with Pro-Tools. This weekend long seminar uses an extensive hands-on approach in order for students to really experience the world of post-production and radio commerical editing.

For 2 consecutive weekends (Saturday & Sunday) students enter the non-linear editing world using Avid Media Composer/News Cutter and Avid Unity. 32 hours of intensive instruction allows students to get hands-on training covering the following:

For 2 consecutive weekends (Saturday & Sunday) students enter the non-linear editing world using Avid Media Composer/News Cutter and Avid Unity. 32 hours of intensive instruction allows students to get hands-on training covering the following:
